Advance salaries, pensions ahead of Eidul Fitr 2026 announced

Government of Punjab has announced early disbursement of salaries and pensions to provide financial relief to civil servants and retirees ahead of Eid Ul Fitr. The decision aims to ease monetary pressures during the festive season and ensure that employees can make necessary arrangements for the celebrations.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Finance Department, all Muslim government employees will receive their salaries for March 2026 in advance on March 16. Pensions for retired officials will also be released on the same date. The early payments follow the routine salary and pension disbursements already made earlier in the month.

The notification stated that the Governor of Punjab has approved the advance release of pay, allowances and pensions for March 2026 on account of Eid Ul Fitr. The move has been taken under the relevant provisions of the Punjab Financial Rules, directing departments to ensure payments are made positively on March 16.

Officials said the initiative reflects the provincial government’s intent to support its workforce and pensioners during important religious occasions. Early payments are expected to help families manage increased expenses related to shopping, travel and other Eid preparations.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has indicated that there is no possibility of sighting the new moon of Shawwal 1447 AH anywhere in the country on March 19, 2026. Based on astronomical forecasts, Eid Ul Fitr is likely to be observed across Pakistan on March 21, 2026, subject to official confirmation by the relevant moon-sighting authorities.
