Mild 3.4 magnitude earthquake shakes Washuk district, Balochistan

Published on: February 15, 2026 2:49 PM

Residents of Washuk district in Balochistan experienced mild tremors on Sunday as a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck the area. The quake originated at a depth of 15 kilometers, creating brief concern among local communities.

The Seismological Center reported that the epicenter was located approximately 29 kilometers north of Washuk. Authorities confirmed that the earthquake was relatively shallow but strong enough to be felt across nearby settlements, prompting residents to take precautionary measures immediately.

During the tremors, people calmly evacuated their homes while reciting Kalma Tayyiba, reflecting their composure and faith amid the natural disturbance. Local authorities monitored the situation closely to ensure public safety and prevent any panic in the district.

Fortunately, no casualties or property damage were reported following the earthquake. Officials emphasized that prompt response and preparedness measures helped mitigate potential risks, while continuous monitoring of seismic activity remains a priority for regional safety.

Seismologists noted that Balochistan lies in a seismically active zone, making minor tremors relatively common. They advised residents to stay alert, follow safety protocols, and report unusual seismic events to local authorities promptly.

The local administration and emergency services continue to remain vigilant, reassuring residents that precautionary measures are in place. They also urged communities to remain calm and avoid unnecessary travel during aftershocks or minor tremors in the coming hours.
