
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to enhance economic relations with Indonesia. He highlighted decades-old brotherly ties and said Pakistan wishes to learn from Indonesia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund model. The meeting was attended by senior ministers and officials, including FM Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his best wishes to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, noting that the latter’s visit to Pakistan last year strengthened bilateral ties. He also referenced their discussions on the sidelines of the 58th World Economic Forum annual meeting.

The Indonesian delegation was led by Minister for Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan P. Roeslani, who delivered a message of goodwill from President Subianto. The minister reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to deepening bilateral economic cooperation and thanked Pakistan for its hospitality.
Both sides agreed to accelerate efforts to upgrade the current Preferential Trade Agreement into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by 2027. Officials said this step would expand trade, investment, and strategic cooperation between the two nations.

The prime minister emphasized that closer economic collaboration with Indonesia aligns with Pakistan’s vision for sustainable growth and international partnerships. Talks focused on investment opportunities, trade facilitation, and leveraging Indonesia’s financial expertise for mutual benefit.
