KARACHI – Pakistani singer Asim Azhar addressed a video that went viral showing him losing his temper during a concert at Ilma University in Karachi on February 9, clarifying the circumstances behind the incident.

In an Instagram story posted early Wednesday, Azhar wrote that while he rarely posts justifications, he felt it necessary to provide context before misinformation spread further. The clip, which circulated widely online, shows Azhar stopping mid-performance to confront a man attempting to climb onto the stage. The man identified himself as a bouncer, prompting Azhar to respond sharply: “Then why are you coming here? If you are a bouncer, then stay with them [the audience]. You are not more special than my public if you are a bouncer.”

Azhar explained that the individual was not a fan but a member of his own security team. He alleged that the bouncer had been pushing women and teenagers in the crowd throughout the evening, prompting his reaction. “Before I could have said anything, he jumped onto the stage,” Azhar noted. He criticised the bouncer for attempting to assert authority over concertgoers instead of focusing on managing the crowd safely.
The singer emphasised that audience safety is his top priority at every show and said he has stopped performances mid-song in the past whenever he noticed unsafe situations. While admitting that his delivery could have been softer, he stressed that he will continue addressing behaviour that compromises fan safety.

He concluded his message with an apology for any discomfort caused by his response, writing: “Sorry if I got carried away with my emotions, but it was important too.” Azhar reiterated his commitment to ensuring that fans feel safe, seen, and heard at his concerts, making clear that his actions stemmed from concern for their well-being rather than personal frustration.
