An Additional District and Sessions Court in Karachi on Tuesday extended the interim bail of popular YouTuber Rajab Butt until March 30 in a case concerning alleged desecration of Islamic symbols. The decision followed a hearing at the Karachi Central Sessions Court.
During the proceedings, Rajab Butt appeared before the court while the complainant’s counsel requested cancellation of bail, arguing that the accused arrived late for the hearing and the defence failed to present necessary responses. The court carefully considered these points.

The defence counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, was on official leave, according to a junior lawyer. The court noted that the defence had previously failed to appear on multiple occasions, emphasizing the need for a formal application regarding the absence.
Despite the delays, the Additional District and Sessions Judge accepted the adjournment request and extended the interim bail, allowing Rajab Butt to remain out of custody until the next scheduled hearing on March 30.

The case against Rajab Butt was originally registered at Hyderi Market Police Station. He had previously secured interim bail, which permitted him to stay free while the court continued legal proceedings and evidence submission.
The extension provides Rajab Butt temporary relief as both the defence and complainant prepare for the next stage of the trial. The court’s decision ensures procedural compliance while maintaining the legal framework for addressing the allegations.
