Pakistan, 7 others Israel’s West Bank expansion

Published on: February 9, 2026 5:00 PM

Eight Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, condemned Israel’s “expansionist policies” in the occupied West Bank. They warned that Israel’s actions undermine international law and threaten regional stability.

The statement came after Israel’s security cabinet approved measures making it easier for settlers to buy land and granting authorities more powers over Palestinians. Officials described these steps as accelerating illegal annexation and displacement of Palestinian communities.

The ministers said Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories and criticized the measures as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2334. They also referenced the 2024 International Court of Justice advisory opinion, which deemed Israel’s occupation illegal.

The eight countries called on the international community to enforce Israel’s legal obligations and halt its escalation in the West Bank. They emphasized the need to uphold Palestinian rights and achieve statehood based on the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The statement reaffirmed that lasting peace and stability in the region depend on respecting international law, ending occupation, and allowing Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination. The ministers warned that continued Israeli expansion could fuel further violence and conflict.
