PPP demands inclusion of Kashmir issue in Board of Peace

Published on: February 2, 2026 2:04 AM

Former prime minister and President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Punjab Raja Pervez Ashraf, has said that the PPP wants to eliminate terrorism from the country and ensure peace, tranquility and prosperity. He added that Pakistan desires peaceful relations with its neighbors, but any aggression against the country will be crushed.

He was addressing the “Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan” rally organized by the PPP Lahore on the Mall Road on Sunday. Raja Pervez Ashraf said that the people of Lahore have won hearts and that PPP workers have made history by staging a massive show of strength. He said the workers of Lahore proved that the PPP is alive with full pride, honor and dignity.

He congratulated PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir, General Secretary Dr Ayesha Shaukat, stage secretary Majid Ghori and their entire team on organizing a magnificent rally. Recalling the legacy of the party, Raja Pervez Ashraf said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had once declared, “We will eat grass, but we will make the nuclear programme,” highlighting PPP’s unwavering commitment to national sovereignty.

PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza, while addressing the rally, said that PPP’s struggle is not against any individual ruler, but against terrorism, unemployment and public deprivation.

PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir said that the size of the procession was unprecedented, with one end at Charing Cross and the other stretching beyond Nasir Bagh. He termed it a sea of people with no parallel in Pakistan’s political history. He said PPP Lahore had demonstrated an unmatched public force in favor of Kashmir and against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Faisal Mir said that the several-kilometer-long rally was a public expression of the Kashmir struggle of Shaheed Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari. He said PPP Lahore had taken the Kashmir cause to a new public height and paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces for Kashmir.

He also demanded that the Kashmir issue be included in US President Donald Trump’s proposed peace board, saying that India is committing atrocities in Kashmir similar to those seen in Gaza.

PPP leaders Shahzad Saeed Cheema, Dr Ayesha Shaukat and Zeeshan Akbar also addressed the rally, while Majid Ghori performed the duties of stage secretary. A large number of party leaders and workers attended the rally.
