
A fire broke out in the basement of a hotel in Lahore’s Gulberg area on January 24, 2026. One young man, identified as Imran, died, while five others were injured. Rescue teams evacuated 180 people safely from the building.
Rescue 1122 officials said the missing CCTV operator, Shahryar, is still unaccounted for. Nearly 200 hotel staff and guests remained safe. The hotel is a 19-story plaza with three basement levels, with the worst damage in Basement 1.

Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Zaman said the fire was limited to the basement and is being brought under control. He confirmed all 180 people have been rescued and that the injured were shifted to the hospital. Water is available in abundance in the basement, aiding firefighting efforts.
A hotel guest, Humayun, said he escaped from the 14th floor using stairs after noticing the fire. He confirmed the evacuation was orderly and that all remaining people were safe. Rescue operations are ongoing, including a full inspection of the building by Rescue 1122.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude to Rescue 1122 for saving everyone. She ordered officials, including provincial ministers, the Chief Secretary, DG LDA, and DC Lahore, to ensure every individual is safely evacuated. The rescue teams continue operations until the building is fully cleared.
