QUETTA: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Balochistan foiled an alleged terror plot by a banned organisation, killing five suspected terrorists in the Dasht area of Mastung district on Monday. The operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of armed men planning attacks along the Quetta–Sibi Highway.

A CTD spokesman said the five suspects were linked to the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and intended to block the highway and target security forces and civilian traffic. “Acting swiftly, CTD teams moved into the area and established surveillance. Upon encountering security personnel, the militants opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange,” the spokesman added.
An Intelligence based operation was conducted by CTD in the Dasht area of District Mastung, resulting in the liquidation of 5 Fitna al Hindustan terrorists, who were planning to block the Quetta–Sibi Highway.

During the operation, the five suspected terrorists were killed, while other accomplices fled, taking advantage of the rugged and mountainous terrain. The CTD recovered weapons and equipment from the slain suspects, including five sub-machine guns with live rounds, seven hand grenades, and three motorcycles.
Search and combing operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing militants and dismantle any remaining network, the CTD official said. The bodies were shifted to SPHQ Hospital in Quetta, and an FIR was registered at the CTD police station in Quetta.
