
RIYADH: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to strengthen cooperation in mining and minerals, focusing on joint investments and collaboration across the sector. Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik led the Pakistani delegation at the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2026 in Riyadh. Both sides highlighted the potential for enhanced bilateral engagement.
On the sidelines of FMF 2026, Malik met H.E. Bandar Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources. The Saudi official praised Pakistan’s participation and stressed the growing global interest in mining and critical minerals. He assured technical support and knowledge resources to bolster Pakistan’s mineral sector.

Malik emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation and highlighted collaboration between the Geological Survey of Pakistan and Saudi Geological Survey. He noted the Tethyan Belt’s vast mineral potential, mentioning Reko Diq as just one example. Fertilizer production and medical equipment manufacturing were also flagged as promising joint venture areas.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Pavilion at FMF 2026 showcased the country’s geology, flagship mining projects, and investment opportunities under the theme “Mineral Marvel – Unleashing Pakistan’s Mineral Revolution.” Saudi officials appreciated the Pavilion’s design and visual impact, reinforcing positive bilateral engagement.

Finally, Saudi Ambassador H.E. Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy welcomed the Pakistani delegation and extended full support. He commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister Malik, noting that Pakistan’s participation would strengthen longstanding brotherly ties and economic cooperation between the two nations.
