No place for politics of abuse: Aleem Khan

Published on: January 5, 2026 2:13 AM

Federal Minister for Communications and President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Abdul Aleem Khan on Sunday said that politics based on abuse, intolerance and bad manners should have no place in society, stressing that mutual respect and dignity were a collective responsibility.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the IPP Central Secretariat in his constituency NA-117, Shahdara, Abdul Aleem Khan said that this is not the time for politics; rather, it is the time to serve the people and resolve their problems, said a press release.

On the occasion, Jawad Khalid Gujjar, son of senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and two-time Member of the Punjab Assembly Khalid Mahmood Gujjar, and a prominent political figure of PP-145 called on Abdul Aleem Khan and along with his associates announced joining the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.

In his address, Abdul Aleem Khan stated that during the past one year, 4 girls’ schools have been established in NA-117 while in the next year more 10 schools will be built. He added that the expansion of Begum Kot Chowk, the dual-carriageway road from Shahdara Mor to Haji Kot and several long-pending development projects have been completed. He further said that 30 transformers have been installed, streetlights provided, 55-kilometer-long Sui Gas pipeline laid down and large-scale development works are currently underway. He emphasized that we will not rest until this constituency becomes a model area and that NA-117 will be brought at all costs on par with developed localities.

The federal minister thanked Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister of Punjab for providing funds for the constituency and said he would approach all relevant forums to ensure timely resolution of public issues.

He added that this area had remained neglected in the past, but now issues related to electricity, water, gas, and other civic facilities are being resolved rapidly.

Former Provincial Minister and NA-117 Coordinator, Mian Khalid Mahmood, in his address said that the people of the area are grateful to Abdul Aleem Khan for fulfilling his promises and for demonstrating what real change truly means.

IPP Punjab Vice President Mian Junaid Zulfiqar, Malik Ahmed Hassan and Chaudhry Amjad Rafiq also welcomed the Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan while Shahdara was decorated with banners and Party flags and youth welcomed Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan with drumbeats, traditional horse displays and showers of flower petals, declaring him the savior of the area and giving him a grand reception.

After inaugurating the Central Secretariat, elders and political figures from PP-145 and PP-146 called on Abdul Aleem Khan. He also met members of the Women’s Wing, reiterating that he remained in contact at the union council level and that the up-gradation of the area was his top priority. He listened to citizens’ issues and assured them of early resolution of their genuine problems.
