On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, Punjab Police has finalized a comprehensive security plan to ensure law and order on New Year Night. The IG Punjab has issued orders to enhance security across Lahore and throughout the province.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, on New Year Night a total of 419 Inspectors, 1,267 Sub-Inspectors, 2,189 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 1,408 Head Constables, and 16,977 Constables and other personnel will perform security duties across the province. In Lahore alone, more than 5,000 officers and personnel will be deployed for security. All activities across Lahore and the province will be monitored with the help of CCTV cameras and the Safe City system. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed the police to remain on high alert and keep a close watch on anti-state elements.
The IG Punjab has made it clear that on New Year Night there will be zero tolerance for one-wheeling, aerial firing, display of weapons, and hooliganism. Strict action will be taken against miscreants involved in harassing women and citizens, and they will be sent to lockups.
Dr Usman Anwar has also ordered the police to ensure coordinated traffic arrangements on New Year Night. He directed that Dolphin Squad, PRU, Elite Force, and PHP teams should further intensify patrolling on roads and highways.
The IG Punjab further instructed that search and sweep operations should be conducted regularly in Lahore and all other cities, and surety bonds should be obtained from previously identified one-wheelers and individuals involved in aerial firing last year.
Dr Usman Anwar said that the CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs should personally supervise all arrangements to maintain law and order. The CTO Lahore and all District Traffic Officers have been directed to deploy additional personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The IG Punjab appealed to citizens to report elements involved in one-wheeling, display of weapons, and aerial firing by calling 15.
Punjab Police service centres served over 3.8m citizens in 2025
The Punjab Police released the annual performance report of its Khidmat Marakaz for 2025, highlighting that over 3.844 million citizens across the province benefited from modern and digital police services.
In 2025, more than 1.668 million citizens underwent general police verification, while 911,280 were issued police character certificates. Over 472,000 citizens availed tenancy registration services, and 167,194 medico-legal certificates were issued. Additionally, over 139,000 individuals received legal and social assistance to protect vulnerable groups.
The report stated that 46,646 citizens had their vehicles verified, more than 100,000 lost documents were reported, and 4,764 crime reports were registered. 214,688 copies of FIRs were issued, while 85 cases of violence against women were recorded. Furthermore, over 117,000 citizens registered as employees (ROPE), and 3,572 underwent police verification for private employment purposes.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said the Khidmat Marakaz are a flagship public service project, providing 24/7 transparent, efficient services, and noted that millions of citizens benefit monthly. He added that services are continuously upgraded based on public feedback to further enhance accessibility and efficiency.
