Aamir Liaquat’s ‘resignation’ sparks Twitter fight with BOL

Published on: November 18, 2017 10:46 PM

LAHORE: Aamir Liaquat, the controversial televangelist often criticised for hate speech against religious minorities and progressive sections of the society, on Saturday announced ‘resignation’ from BOL network which soon turned into a Twitter fight.

The journey has come to an end & not a friendly end. Now I am not part of #BOL. They owe me my dues. #KhudaHafizBOL

— Aamir Liaquat Husain (@AamirLiaquat) November 18, 2017

Following Liaquat’s stunt whereby he announced to resign from his network for the second time, tweets with hashtag #KhudaHafizBol, literally good by BOL, started emerging apparently from the televangelist’s supporters. As he went on a retweeting spree of tweets in his favour, BOL showed up with a response and a counter hashtag #AllahHafizDrAamir which soon caught up and started trending on Twitter.

In a tweet posted from network’s official handle, BOL said Aamir Liaquat did not fulfill his contractual obligations toward the network and claimed that the network wasn’t aware of anchorperson’s move until they saw it on Twitter.

BOL & its management had received no prior notice or intimation regarding Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s resignation until now made through his Twitter a/c which is a thoroughly unprofessional practice. #AllahHafizDrAamir

— Irsa Ghazal Khan. (@irsaayy) November 18, 2017

Leveling serious allegations against BOL, Liaquat disowned everything he said on his controversial show Aisay Nahi Chalayga for which he faced several lawsuits of slander and hate speech and said he was made to say those things by the network.

بول کو جواب #؛AisayNahiChalayGa#KhudaHafizBOL pic.twitter.com/e2iXq7Pwd7

— Aamir Liaquat Husain (@AamirLiaquat) November 18, 2017

“I’m a very soft person and I would like to apologise everyone I have hurt through my show”, he said through a video.

— Aamir Liaquat Husain (@AamirLiaquat) November 18, 2017

He also accused the network of lying about its game shows saying that the network never gave away a single car to the winners, let alone the private jets as it had promised in Ramazan.

— Aamir Liaquat Husain (@AamirLiaquat) November 18, 2017

This isn’t the first time Aamir Liaquat pulled off a stunt like this. Only in August, the controversial televangelist had made a similar announcement but ended up rejoining the network a few days after. He has previously been associated with multiple other outlets including GEO TV, ARY and Express. He is known for publicly dishing his former networks after quitting.
