KP CM vows zero-tolerance for corruption, commits to lasting peace

Published on: December 4, 2025 10:22 AM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday vowed to restore and sustain peace in the province “at all costs.” Speaking at a joint darbar of police and civil officers at the Chief Minister’s House, he emphasised that decisions made behind closed doors would no longer be tolerated.

The meeting included the chief secretary, inspector general of police, administrative secretaries, divisional and district officers, and senior police officials. Mr Afridi expressed regret that some elements had overstepped constitutional limits while certain institutions failed to fulfill their responsibilities, impacting governance across the province.

He highlighted the lasting effects of war, terrorism, and external interference over the past four decades, which had severely affected the people, civil servants, and police personnel. Despite limited resources, the KP police had rendered unparalleled sacrifices in combating terrorism over the last 21 years.

Paying tribute to martyrs of recent attacks in Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, and other areas, Mr Afridi said the provincial government stood shoulder to shoulder with the police and civil administration. “There will be no political interference in the working of any officer; however, delivering results will be mandatory,” he said.

The chief minister outlined plans to equip the police with modern weapons, anti-drone systems, and bulletproof vehicles to tackle contemporary security challenges. He stressed the importance of morale, faith, and public service, calling on officers to work for the people with integrity and accountability.

Mr Afridi also reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, stating that any minister, MPA, police officer, or civil servant found involved in wrongdoing would face strict action. He announced an open-door policy for public grievances and said future promotions, postings, and assignments would be based strictly on performance.

He concluded by pledging continued support for officers who performed well and vowed to ensure care and justice for families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the province and the nation.
