COAS holds defence talks with Saudi and Egyptian officials

Field Marshal Asim Munir, Saudi commander hold high-level defence talks at GHQ
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Gen Asim Munir on Wednesday met Lieutenant General Fahad bin Saud, Commander of the Royal Saudi Land Forces, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The high-level meeting, according to ISPR, focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, regional security, and strategic collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the longstanding brotherly military ties between their armed forces. The Saudi commander praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and commended Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability. On arrival at GHQ, Lt Gen Fahad bin Saud was accorded a formal guard of honour, marking the ceremonial start of his visit.

Earlier, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, also called on Field Marshal Asim Munir in Rawalpindi. The discussions between Pakistan and Egypt reviewed bilateral relations, with a particular focus on defence and security cooperation, military-to-military contacts, and training collaborations. Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthen coordination and deepen longstanding ties in defence and broader strategic domains.

The meetings underscore Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to bolster defence partnerships with key regional allies. Both engagements emphasized shared interests in promoting regional stability, enhancing military cooperation, and ensuring mutual strategic objectives are met.
