Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed that all educational institutions and commercial centers must now place five-coloured dust bins, a move aimed at improving waste management and environmental cleanliness.
The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that strict action will be taken against commercial centers, offices, shopping malls, and plazas that fail to comply with this new mandate.

The bins must be colour-coded for paper, glass, organic waste, metal, and plastic, and placed at visible, easily accessible locations to encourage proper segregation and recycling of materials.
EPA officials stated that the Punjab Waste Management Helpline is available to guide institutions and commercial centers in setting up the bins and arranging regular garbage collection efficiently.
This initiative is expected to reduce environmental pollution significantly, increase recycling rates, and ensure valuable resources are reused, contributing to a cleaner and greener Punjab.
Authorities emphasized that public awareness and cooperation are key to the success of this program, urging citizens, students, and businesses to follow the guidelines diligently.
