Security forces killed eight terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, the military said on Saturday. The ISPR reported that the operation, conducted on November 21, targeted militants linked to the Indian-proxy group Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used for TTP elements. It added that the group was involved in attacks on security forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians.
The ISPR said troops also recovered weapons and ammunition from the militants. It noted that the operation reflected stronger coordination between security agencies as intelligence-driven actions intensify across the region. Additionally, it stressed that these measures aim to restrict militant movement, dismantle support networks and prevent regrouping efforts.

According to the statement, security forces are continuing a sanitisation operation to eliminate any remaining militants in the area. It added that the drive forms part of the Azm-i-Istehkam counter-terrorism strategy, approved by the Federal Apex Committee to eradicate foreign-sponsored militancy. Officials said recent operations are delivering measurable results, but efforts will continue until stability improves.
The surge in targeted actions follows a rise in militant attacks, especially in KP and Balochistan. The escalation began after the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in 2022 and vowed renewed violence. Authorities say the group has since targeted police, security forces and civilians across the region.

Separately, security personnel foiled an IED attack on Dawa Bridge in Bannu earlier on Saturday. A day earlier, seven people were killed when attackers struck a peace committee office in the district. Police said one of the victims was a former militant who had surrendered, while the others were his relatives.
