
LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday highlighted the crucial role of accountability and transparency in achieving good governance. Speaking at the 27th National Security Workshop, she stated that without accountability, public sector performance stagnates, and governance cannot improve.

During the meeting, CM Maryam updated participants on Punjab’s ongoing public welfare projects and addressed their queries. She discussed the challenges arising from unequal resource distribution and the province’s efforts to mitigate the impacts of recent floods that affected millions of people and livestock.
The Chief Minister also highlighted her government’s environmental initiatives, including measures to control smog through the smog gun spray and the introduction of zig-zag technology in brick kilns. She noted that air quality is improving due to enhanced monitoring systems across the province.
Emphasizing merit-based governance, Maryam Nawaz revealed that women now hold key positions as ministers, secretaries, commissioners, and deputy commissioners in Punjab. She asserted that no political appointments are being made, underlining her commitment to transparency and fairness.

On the economic front, she noted that Punjab has managed to keep prices of wheat, roti, and flour stable while reducing the provincial inflation rate from 40% to 4%, making daily life more affordable for citizens.
