
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Friday said that although terrorism incidents have decreased over the past couple of months due to intensified security operations, the overall situation still cannot be considered satisfactory.

He made these remarks during an in-camera briefing to members of the provincial assembly, where he underlined the need for collective and strategic efforts to further stabilise law and order in the province.
The chief minister described the assembly as a representative institution and a “Jirga hall” for Balochistan, stressing that elected members must not only be informed about government action but should also contribute concrete suggestions for improvement.
During the session, Mr Bugti moved a motion under Rule 170(D) to constitute a Committee of the Whole, which was subsequently approved. Following this, Inspector General of Balochistan Police Muhammad Tahir and officials from the home department provided lawmakers with a detailed briefing on ongoing security challenges.

Despite the recent drop in terror incidents, the chief minister urged the House to propose more effective and long-term strategies to counter militancy and ensure lasting peace in the province.
