Pakistan, the US, and several Arab and Muslim-majority countries urged the UN Security Council to approve Trump’s Gaza peace plan. They called for the resolution’s immediate adoption. The move aims to stabilize Gaza after years of conflict.
The joint statement included Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, UAE, Indonesia, Jordan, and Turkey. They emphasized that the resolution provides a practical path for regional peace and security.
The proposed resolution welcomes the establishment of a “Board of Peace” for Gaza, with Trump serving as a temporary overseer until 2027. It also allows member states to form an interim international stabilization force to help secure border areas.

Unlike previous drafts, the latest text references a potential future Palestinian state. The force would work alongside Israel, Egypt, and newly trained Palestinian police to demilitarize Gaza.
Russia proposed an alternative draft, which neither facilitates the Board of Peace nor the immediate deployment of international forces. The UN Secretary-General has been asked to suggest ways to implement the peace plan and report on the potential stabilization force.

Diplomatic sources indicate that while Council members broadly support the plan’s core principles, questions remain about monitoring, the Palestinian Authority’s role, and details of the international force’s mandate.
