DUNEDIN: Jacob Duffy starred with the ball as New Zealand secured a dominant eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the fifth T20 international on Thursday, sealing a 3-1 series win. Duffy claimed 4-35, including three early wickets, reducing the visitors to 21-4 at Dunedin’s University Oval before they recovered slightly to post 140 all out in 18.4 overs.
Chasing a modest target, New Zealand cruised to 141-2 in just 15.4 overs, with opener Devon Conway top-scoring at 47 not out, including four boundaries and a six. Tim Robinson contributed 45, while Mark Chapman remained unbeaten on 21 alongside Conway to see the Kiwis home comfortably.

Duffy was named player of the series after taking 10 wickets at an average of 12.10. He became the first New Zealander to achieve five four-wicket hauls in T20 internationals. “We just wanted to be clinical, finish off the series and take it home,” Duffy said, highlighting New Zealand’s disciplined approach in seamer-friendly conditions.
West Indies captain Shai Hope acknowledged the team struggled to adapt to the pitch and their aggressive strategy at the top order backfired. Roston Chase top-scored with 38 for the visitors, while Romario Shepherd contributed a lively 36 off 22 balls, but it wasn’t enough to challenge the hosts.
