Pakistan, Saudi Arabia deepen defence partnership and ties

Published on: November 9, 2025 8:16 PM

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen defence cooperation and enhance bilateral relations, following a high-level meeting between top military officials from both nations in Saudi Arabia. The discussions focused on long-term collaboration in security and military operations.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, to review regional and global security dynamics and explore avenues to expand defence cooperation. Both sides emphasized mutual strategic interests.

The military leaders expressed their determination to build upon the long-standing brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. They agreed to further consolidate the enduring defence partnership, ensuring closer collaboration in joint exercises, intelligence sharing, and training programs for armed forces.

In recognition of his efforts to promote robust military ties, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was awarded the “King Abdulaziz Medal of Honour of the Excellent Class.” Saudi officials also praised the professionalism and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces in combating terrorism and maintaining regional stability.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained a time-tested relationship grounded in military cooperation, economic collaboration, and shared Islamic values. The countries’ ties were further strengthened in September when both signed a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, pledging collective security in case of an attack.

The renewed commitment to defence cooperation reflects the ongoing strategic alignment between the two nations. Both militaries are expected to engage in joint exercises, technology sharing, and enhanced coordination to address emerging regional and global security challenges effectively.
