Cop martyred, 15 wanted bandits killed in Ghotki operation

Published on: November 8, 2025 12:53 AM

Sindh Police achieved a major success during an ongoing search operation against dacoits in Ghotki. In this successful operation, police eliminated several highly dangerous and wanted criminals, including those who carried head money announced by the Government of Sindh.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar lauded the outstanding performance of DIG Sukkur, SSP Ghotki, SSP Sukkur, and their teams for conducting a successful operation against dacoits in Ghotki. The Sindh Home Minister said that due to the police’s courageous and professional strategy, they achieved remarkable success. The elimination of these notorious and fearsome dacoits has greatly boosted the morale of the force. He further said that Ghotki Police deserve appreciation for their effective control over law and order and commendable performance against crime.

According to details, the operation was carried out under the supervision of DIG Sukkur Faisal Abdullah Chachar, with SSP Ghotki Anwar Khetran, SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal, DSP Obaro Abdul Qadir Soomro, and their teams actively participating. According to DIG Sukkur, a fierce exchange of fire took place between police and the dacoits during the operation, resulting in the killing of 12 highly dangerous criminals. Among those killed were several wanted men with head money announced by the Sindh government – including the most notorious dacoit Shah Nawaz alias Shahu, who carried a bounty of Rs. 5 million on his head.

DIG Sukkur further stated that police have taken possession of the bodies of seven dacoits, while five bodies were taken away by their accomplices under the cover of darkness. Around ten armed dacoits were also seriously injured during the encounter, and their associates managed to flee with them. The slain criminals were reportedly members of the Shar gang, which had long been a symbol of fear and terror in the area. DIG Faisal Abdullah Chachar added that due to the strong and effective response by the police, the dacoits were forced to retreat, and the search operation in the affected area is still ongoing.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar reaffirmed the government’s resolve that Sindh Police will not rest until all criminal elements are completely eliminated. He emphasized that every possible measure will continue to be taken to ensure lasting peace and security across the province.

There were also reports that a police officer was martyred and two others injured in the exchange of fire.
