Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the availability and prices of sugar across the country.
The meeting discussed measures to ensure stable prices and sufficient market supply so that consumers are protected from artificially inflated rates due to hoarding or profiteering, a DPM’s Office news release said.
The meeting was attended by Minister for National Food Security Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, SAPM Mr. Tariq Bajwa, Secretaries of Industries and Commerce, Chairman TDAP, Chief Secretary of Balochistan, TCP, as well as Provincial Food Departments.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to review Pakistan’s overall strategy for economic diplomacy and enhancing trade.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar underscored the importance of leveraging economic diplomacy as a key pillar of foreign policy to expand exports, attract foreign investment, and deepen trade and economic cooperation particularly with the European Union and other major partners, a DPM’s Office news release said.
He emphasized coordinated efforts among ministries and missions abroad to promote Pakistan’s economic interests globally and ensure effective follow-up on trade and investment opportunities.
The participants reviewed the progress achieved since the last session of the committee and discussed measures to strengthen Pakistan’s trade and investment outreach.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers for Commerce and Law & Justice, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary, Secretary Commerce, and senior officers from relevant departments.
