Saudi Arabia to train Pakistani students in AI, says PM Shehbaz

Published on: October 30, 2025 8:53 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistani students will soon receive free training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Saudi Arabia. Speaking at the launch of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025 in Islamabad, he said one lakh laptops are being distributed purely on merit to support the country’s most talented youth. The prime minister praised hardworking students, parents, and teachers, calling education the foundation of Pakistan’s progress.

Shehbaz said the government would use every available resource to provide technical and professional training opportunities. He stated that Rs40 to Rs50 billion had already been spent on the laptops and added that even Rs500 billion would be justified if it helped build a skilled and empowered generation. He emphasized that the initiative is part of a larger vision to prepare Pakistan’s youth for the challenges of the modern digital economy.

Highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing partnership with Pakistan, the prime minister revealed that Riyadh has offered to provide free AI training for Pakistani students. “Saudi Arabia is investing billions of dollars in AI and has expressed readiness to train our students without any cost,” he said. He added that the kingdom’s leadership considers Pakistan its brotherly nation and has always supported its development.

The prime minister said thousands of young Pakistanis would soon be sent to Saudi Arabia to gain advanced training in artificial intelligence and modern technologies. He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing youth education and skills development. “As long as I hold this responsibility, I will dedicate every resource for your education, training, and future success,” Shehbaz said, urging students to dream big and serve the country.
