Average Umrah duration in Makkah recorded at 116 minutes

Published on: October 25, 2025 2:41 PM

MAKKAH – The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has reported that the average duration for performing Umrah during Jumada Al-Awwal 1447 AH was approximately 116 minutes.

According to the latest survey conducted by the authority, 92% of pilgrims performed Tawaf in the Mataf area of the Grand Mosque, reflecting improved crowd management and smoother movement of worshippers.

The report highlighted that the average duration for Tawaf was 42 minutes, while Sa’i between Safa and Marwah took around 46 minutes. Pilgrims spent about 15 minutes moving from the mosque’s courtyards to the Mataf area and 13 minutes traveling from the Mataf to Al-Mas’a.

“The duration of Tawaf in the Mataf area is shorter compared to other locations,” the authority said, noting that administrative measures have enhanced the flow of worshippers and reduced congestion.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring and facilitating pilgrim movement throughout the Grand Mosque to ensure comfort and ease in performing rituals.

It further stated that reserving the Mataf area exclusively for Umrah pilgrims and allocating upper floors for Tawaf-only visitors have significantly reduced crowding and enhanced the overall experience.
