Member of National Assembly Sher Afzal Marwat claimed that a deal for PTI chief Imran Khan’s release was finalized with the government and establishment. He said the agreement was reached on November 25, 2024, after earlier negotiations in early November. Marwat explained that a four-member committee, including Ali Amin Gandapur, Barrister Gohar, Mohsin Naqvi, and Rana Sanaullah, initially led the talks. Later, Marwat also joined the committee to help finalize the arrangements.
According to Marwat, the agreement included Khan’s release the next morning after recording a video in jail. The video was intended to calm PTI supporters traveling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Barrister Gohar was supposed to coordinate with Khan and record the message safely. The plan aimed to prevent clashes and maintain order until Khan’s release.

Marwat described concerns about mobile phone access during the recording. Khan reportedly refused a jail mobile phone, fearing tampering. The committee discussed whether to record the video inside or outside the cell. Eventually, it was decided that Barrister Gohar would bring his phone the next morning for the recording.
The MP added that the state had no intentions of confrontation before the Rangers incident. The government and establishment sought compromise to avoid escalation. He said the Rangers incident disrupted the entire plan, preventing Khan’s release and halting other pending agreements.
