A significant portfolio review meeting on foreign-funded projects was held at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Minister for Planning and Development, Jam Khan Shoro. Officers and project directors from ten different departments participated in the session.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Planning & Development Board, Najam Ahmed Shah, along with representatives from the departments of Energy, Local Government, Health, Livestock, Agriculture, Transport, Barrages Improvement Unit, and the SWAT project. Each department provided a detailed briefing on their respective progress.
Key schemes such as the CLICK project, BRT, and Yellow Line were also discussed. Minister Jam Khan Shoro was briefed on the Sindh Solar Energy Project, during which he stated that under the government’s new policy, the net metering mechanism has been revised. He directed that a separate detailed meeting be convened to ensure further progress on the solar energy initiative.
According to the spokesperson, Project Director Khalid Mehmood Shaikh of the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood-Affected Scheme briefed the meeting on the construction of houses for flood victims. The provincial minister instructed that a detailed report be submitted regarding the number of houses, their cost, and the completion rate across the province.
Secretary of the Sindh Livestock Department, Kazim Hussain Jatoi, informed the meeting that hospitals and mobile dispensaries for animals have been established in ten districts of Sindh. Additionally, 10,000 trainees have completed training under the Breed Improvement Program, and efforts are underway to further increase the number of trained personnel to strengthen the sector.
Jam Khan Shoro directed the concerned officials to expand the scope of water filtration plants and ensure water supply reaches remote areas.
It was reported in the meeting that under the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Program, road construction and several solar water schemes have been completed, while more schemes are expected to be finalized by next month.
Provincial Minister for Planning Jam Khan Shoro instructed all relevant officials to accelerate the pace of all projects and ensure maximum facilities are provided to the public. He emphasized that all departments must resolve their challenges promptly to ensure timely progress on development projects.
