World listened to Pakistan at Gaza peace deal, says PM Shehbaz

Published on: October 18, 2025 7:34 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has gained international respect due to its active diplomatic efforts. Speaking at a private ceremony in Khanewal, he revealed that during the recent Gaza peace agreement in Egypt, it was Pakistan’s leader, not others, who was invited to speak on behalf of global leaders. He called this a proud moment for the nation.

The prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s growing success on the diplomatic front. He said that the historic agreement with Saudi Arabia marked a major milestone, adding that the warm reception he received in the Kingdom was “unprecedented.” He also mentioned his visit to the United States, where he raised the Gaza issue during a meeting with the U.S. President, following his scheduled speech at the United Nations.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that innocent civilians in Gaza had suffered greatly and that Pakistan played a role in achieving the ceasefire. He noted that former U.S. President Donald Trump led the peace efforts from the front and deserved credit for helping stop the war. “Before the truce, innocent lives were being lost daily, but Pakistan’s diplomatic role helped push for peace,” he said.

Turning to domestic matters, the prime minister emphasized the government’s economic progress. He praised the Pakistan Army’s support in strengthening the economy, saying that when his government took office, it faced major challenges, including the IMF program. However, he said Pakistan’s national economy is now moving forward with renewed stability and growth.

Shehbaz Sharif also praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her hard work in sectors such as transport, health, and education. He appreciated the efforts of Sindh Chief Minister and congratulated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on his new role, expressing willingness to work together for Pakistan’s progress. Earlier, the PM offered condolences to the family of Irfan Ahmed Khan Daha, a senior PML-N member, acknowledging his long-standing service to the party and the people.
