
Pakistan and Vietnam have officially started Pakistan Vietnam trade negotiations to finalize a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) that aims to expand bilateral commerce and investment. The announcement came during a high-level Pakistan-Vietnam Business Forum held in Islamabad on Tuesday, co-chaired by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Diên.
The meeting marked a new phase in Pakistan Vietnam trade relations, with both sides agreeing to complete negotiations by the end of 2025. Key federal ministers and business leaders from both countries attended the event, reflecting strong mutual interest in deepening economic cooperation. The two ministers also signed a joint statement, officially launching PTA discussions.

Under the proposed agreement, both countries plan to enhance market access and reduce trade barriers. The PTA will help diversify export products, attract investment, and strengthen trade competitiveness. Officials said the agreement will create new business opportunities while supporting sustainable growth in both economies.
In addition to trade cooperation, the two sides agreed to improve connectivity between Pakistan and Vietnam. They discussed direct flight routes to promote tourism and business travel, along with easier visa processes to help entrepreneurs and tourists move more freely. These steps are expected to make Pakistan Vietnam trade more dynamic and people-centered.

Both governments also reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaboration in technology, innovation, and science. Pakistani officials expressed solidarity with the people of Vietnam affected by recent floods and emphasized that the Pakistan Vietnam trade partnership would pave the way for stronger regional ties and shared economic prosperity.
