An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted a 12-day physical remand of 110 activists of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) arrested in connection with a violent protest and attack on police personnel. Police produced the arrested workers before ATC Administrative Judge Manzer Ali Gill, seeking their remand for investigation. After hearing the arguments, the court approved the request and handed over the suspects to police custody. According to police, the accused were involved in a violent demonstration during which they opened fire and attacked police officials with sticks. A case against them was registered at Nawan Kot Police Station under terrorism and rioting charges. Those arrested include Qari Umar Farooq, Basharat Ali, Qari Shabbir Ahmad Farooqi, Hafiz Ghulam Sarwar, Qari Muhammad Hussain, Qari Muharram Aslam, Qari Muhammad Khurshid, Syed Hamad Ali, Imran Hussain, Ghulam Nabi, Nazir Hussain alias Nazir Chishti, and Muhammad Usama, along with several others.
