Dry, cool weather to dominate most parts of Pakistan

Published on: October 10, 2025 5:52 PM

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted mainly dry weather conditions across most parts of the country over the next 24 hours. However, cold temperatures are expected to grip hilly areas during the night and early morning. The department also advised citizens to prepare for a noticeable drop in temperature as autumn conditions strengthen nationwide, especially in the northern regions.

In the federal capital, dry weather will likely continue throughout the day, with cool mornings and evenings. Most plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to remain dry as well. However, light rain or isolated thunderstorms may occur in the upper regions, including Chitral, Swat, Malakand, and Dir. These areas are also expected to experience cooler nights due to falling temperatures.

Meanwhile, Punjab is set to experience mostly dry weather, though cooler conditions will develop in Murree, Galiyat, and nearby hilly regions. As the temperature drops during the night, morning fog may appear in some plain districts. In contrast, Sindh will continue to face hot and dry weather, particularly in Karachi, Hyderabad, and interior regions, where daytime heat is expected to persist for several more days.

Across Balochistan, the forecast suggests dry and breezy conditions dominating most districts. However, northern parts such as Quetta, Ziarat, and Kalat may experience cold nights due to clear skies and declining temperatures. The PMD has advised residents in these areas to take precautions to stay warm, as early morning temperatures may fall sharply.

For Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, partly cloudy weather is expected with a chance of light rain and isolated thunderstorms in some areas. Despite the brief showers, the overall temperature will remain cool to cold, especially during night hours. The department has also predicted that this weather pattern will likely persist through the weekend, bringing relief to areas that recently experienced mild heat.

Overall, the prevailing dry conditions mark a gradual seasonal transition toward cooler weather across Pakistan. Citizens have been advised to stay updated with local forecasts, as temperature changes and light rain in northern regions may affect travel and outdoor activities in the coming days.
