Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Regional Committee on Food, Convener Shahid Imran said on Sunday that Pakistan’s geographical proximity and agricultural diversity make it an ideal supplier of affordable and fresh food products to Saudi Arabia. Speaking to a delegation of women entrepreneurs led by Ayesha Rifaqat here, he said that despite its significant potential and the availability of high-quality Halal food, Pakistan’s share in Saudi Arabia’s total food imports remains relatively small compared to other countries. He noted that Saudi Arabia, with a population of around 36 million, relies on imports for more than 80 percent of its food consumption. “The Saudi food market is expanding rapidly due to rising living standards, a growing population, and the boom in tourism, all of which are driving higher demand for diverse food products, including premium snacks produced in Pakistan,” he added. Shahid Imran said that these factors make Saudi Arabia an ideal market for Pakistani agricultural and food products, particularly in Halal meat, dairy, fruits, and vegetables.
