The Sindh government has decided to start distributing free pink electric scooters to women and female students this week. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon called the move a revolutionary step toward empowering women across the province. He chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on the Pink Scooties Program.
The scooters will help women with safe, affordable, and independent travel, especially for daily commutes related to education and jobs. Memon said the scheme aims to reduce travel costs, save time, and provide dignity in mobility. It specifically targets women who rely on public transport for their everyday needs.

Applications and eligibility records are being compiled by the Sindh Mass Transit Authority. According to officials, scooters will be allotted on merit and need-based criteria through a transparent mechanism. The process has been designed to be simple and accessible to ensure maximum participation.
Sharjeel Memon emphasized that the scheme will support women’s independence and empowerment in all walks of life. He urged all eligible female students and working women to apply and take full advantage of this opportunity. The program reflects the government’s commitment to expanding women’s access to education, employment, and mobility.

Earlier in August, Sindh Workers Welfare Board also announced a plan to distribute 10,000 free electric bikes to women working in industrial sectors. Registration is underway, and the allocation will be made via digital balloting. Women aged 20 to 45 are eligible, and 20% of the slots are reserved for minorities.
