The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has officially increased the demand notice fee for single-phase meters, raising it from Rs13,786 after securing approval from the concerned authorities this week.
This revision marks another change in LESCO’s policies, as the company had earlier updated its procedures in June 2025 for large commercial and industrial consumers, particularly those acquiring new connections or shifting to solar systems.
According to a recent notification issued by LESCO’s Director of Customer Services, Abbas Ali, the company has also decided to install only one Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart meter instead of two.
The notification highlights that for new connections and solar system users, the installation of a backup meter will no longer remain mandatory, aiming to simplify the process for customers and reduce costs.
However, LESCO has also given consumers the flexibility to opt for both billing and backup meters if they prefer, ensuring that those who want additional monitoring can still avail the option.
These policy adjustments reflect LESCO’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure while also ensuring consumer choice, though the rise in demand notice fees may create additional financial burden for new applicants.
