Pakistan rejoins top Hockey nations in FIH pro league

Published on: August 28, 2025 5:37 PM

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has officially confirmed Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming season of the FIH Pro League. FIH President Tayyab Ikram announced that Pakistan was invited to join after New Zealand withdrew from the tournament.

Pakistan will now compete in the Pro League’s seventh edition alongside top hockey nations. The participating teams include Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, India, the Netherlands, and Spain. This marks a major return for Pakistan to elite international hockey.

Tayyab Ikram expressed his happiness over Pakistan’s comeback to top-level competitions. He said it’s encouraging to see Pakistan back among world-class teams. The FIH is committed to promoting competitive hockey globally, and Pakistan’s inclusion adds value to the event.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan government approved a grant of Rs 350 million to support the national team’s participation. This funding is expected to boost preparations and ensure strong representation in the league.

Pakistan’s return to the FIH Pro League is seen as a significant step in reviving the sport in the country. It provides the national team with much-needed international exposure and a chance to compete against the world’s best once again.
