Ishaq Dar in Jeddah to reaffirm support for Palestine at OIC

Published on: August 25, 2025 10:57 AM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar arrived in Jeddah on Monday to attend the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq, Consul-General Khalid Majeed, and Permanent Representative to the OIC Fawad Bashir, reflecting the importance of Pakistan’s role at the high-level gathering.

The Extraordinary OIC session will bring together foreign ministers and senior officials from member states to deliberate on joint strategies regarding the worsening situation in Palestine. Discussions will focus on Israel’s ongoing aggression, its proposed plans for full military control over Gaza, and the continued violations of Palestinian rights. The meeting is expected to adopt strong collective measures to address these pressing concerns.

As a consistent advocate for the Palestinian cause, Pakistan has raised the issue at all major international forums. During this session, Ishaq Dar will highlight Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestine and underline the country’s principled stance against occupation. He will also push for global unity to counter Israel’s military actions and prevent further displacement of Palestinians.

Dar is expected to call for Israel’s complete withdrawal from all occupied Palestinian territories while rejecting its plan for extended control over Gaza. He will also stress the urgent need for unhindered humanitarian assistance to the besieged population. Furthermore, Pakistan will reiterate its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-June 1967 borders.

In addition to the formal session, the Deputy Prime Minister will likely hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from key OIC member states. These interactions aim to strengthen diplomatic cooperation, build consensus on urgent regional issues, and further Pakistan’s role as a strong voice for peace and justice in the Muslim world.
