Saleema Imtiaz to officiate in Pakistan-South Africa women’s ODIs

Published on: August 22, 2025 5:02 PM

Pakistan’s Saleema Imtiaz will achieve a major milestone in her umpiring career as she takes the field in her first-ever ODI bilateral series between Pakistan and South Africa next month. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that the three-match women’s series will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from 16 to 22 September.

Saleema, who is part of the ICC International Panel of Umpires, will join Australia’s Claire Polosak, another highly respected umpire from the same panel. Polosak, returning to Pakistan after her successful stint in Karachi last year, will officiate as an on-field umpire in all three ODIs. This collaboration marks another significant step forward in women’s umpiring representation at the international level.

In addition to them, Tariq Rasheed from the PCB Elite Panel of Umpires will also serve as an on-field umpire during the series. Humairah Farah has been appointed as the reserve umpire, ensuring strong local representation in the officiating team. Their roles highlight PCB’s efforts to provide opportunities for both local and international officials.

Former Test cricketer Ali Naqvi, who is a member of the PCB and ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will lead the playing control team. His presence adds further credibility and experience to the panel, ensuring the series is managed to the highest professional standards.

The first ODI on 16 September will see Claire Polosak and Saleema Imtiaz officiating on-field, while the second ODI on 19 September will feature Polosak and Tariq Rasheed. Finally, the third ODI on 22 September will again bring Saleema and Polosak together as on-field umpires. Each match will also have Humairah Farah as reserve umpire and Ali Naqvi as referee.

This series is set to be an important opportunity not only for Pakistan and South Africa players but also for women umpires to showcase their skills on a bigger stage. With experienced officials managing the games, fans can expect fair competition and professional standards throughout the contest.
