Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of severe flooding in Islamabad after heavy rains hit the city. He directed the district administration and Capital Development Authority (CDA) to rescue stranded people and ensure water drainage. Many homes in low-lying areas near stormwater drains were flooded, causing hardship for residents.
Following the rainfall, areas like New Chatha Bakhtawar were completely submerged. Rainwater entered homes, damaging property and trapping residents indoors. Streets in the affected areas became impassable. People demanded immediate rescue and support from authorities to handle the crisis.
To prevent further damage, the prime minister ordered safety measures for people living near streams and drains. He emphasized protecting vulnerable communities in low-lying zones. He also formed a monitoring committee to supervise relief efforts and ensure the safety of citizens during the flood response.
In addition, PM Shehbaz instructed the health department to stay on high alert. He stressed the need to control waterborne diseases after the flooding. Health teams were told to take immediate action where needed and ensure medical support in affected areas.
The government’s emergency response aims to provide relief quickly and avoid further harm. With continued rain expected, officials have been told to stay prepared. The prime minister’s directions highlight the urgency of action and the need for long-term flood management in Islamabad.
