BEIJING: Pakistan’s Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has invited global partners to explore the country’s rapidly evolving healthcare sector, highlighting its immense investment potential and commitment to innovation and reform.
Speaking at the Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in Beijing on Friday, Kamal stated that Pakistan was “ready for partnerships in global health” and outlined opportunities in nursing cooperation, digital health regulation, and medical device manufacturing.

“Without health, the economy cannot progress,” Kamal said during the roundtable attended by health ministers from across the world. Discussions at the forum focused on equal access to healthcare, sustainability, and health-related economic cooperation across Asia.
The minister noted that with a population of 250 million, Pakistan offers significant room for international collaboration in areas such as nurse and paramedic training, healthcare technology, and pharmaceutical regulation. He underscored that Pakistan’s policies aim to ensure streamlined regulation, high returns, and strong government support for investors.
Kamal also highlighted the recent launch of the Digital System for Licensing and Registration of Medical Devices by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap), a project inaugurated earlier this week by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The system is designed to reduce licensing time to 20 days, a major step toward improving healthcare regulation.

Addressing structural challenges in Pakistan’s healthcare system, Kamal reiterated that lasting improvement goes beyond building hospitals—it requires transforming the entire healthcare environment. He pointed to Pakistan’s high fertility rate, and the burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases, along with the ongoing need to eradicate polio, as top policy priorities.
The Boao Forum, founded in 2001, serves as a platform for dialogue among Asian nations and focuses on promoting health-related development alongside economic cooperation. Kamal’s address was part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to integrate into global health and investment ecosystems.
