A major recruitment scandal has surfaced in Sindh Police, involving appointments made on fake or out-of-province domiciles. The revelation came during a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting chaired by Nisar Khuhro, where a police investigation report was presented highlighting irregularities.
DIG Finance Tanveer Odho informed the committee that 19 police personnel were recruited using either fake domiciles or domiciles from other provinces like KP, Punjab, and former FATA. The appointments reportedly occurred between 1979 and 2015. Out of 196 reviewed recruitments, four used domiciles from other provinces, while 15 were based on forged documents.
The committee was informed that instead of terminating these individuals, they were only served show-cause notices. PAC member Khurram Soomro objected, demanding strict action against those who forged or submitted fake domiciles. The committee then ordered that criminal cases be filed against those involved.
Another PAC member, Talha Ahmed, condemned the malpractice as a clear injustice to Sindh’s rightful candidates. He said such fraudulent recruitment practices undermine trust and displace local deserving applicants.
The meeting also reviewed audit reports from 2020 and 2021. The Director General Audit revealed that personnel hired on out-of-province domiciles were paid salaries totaling Rs17.405 million, further deepening concerns about financial mismanagement within the department.
