Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran and vowed deeper cooperation between the two neighbors. During the visit, Naqvi congratulated Iran on what he called a “great victory” in its recent war. He praised the leadership of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling it a source of pride for all Muslims. He also delivered warm greetings from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and highlighted Pakistan’s firm stance in supporting Iran’s right to self-defence.
President Pezeshkian welcomed the support and said the bond between Iran and Pakistan is “deep and historic.” He warned that foreign powers, especially the Zionist regime, are trying to divide the Muslim world. Therefore, he urged unity and stronger cooperation among Islamic countries. He stressed the value of diplomacy and said both nations should work closely across many fields. The Iranian leader also appreciated Pakistan’s quick backing during the conflict.
Naqvi recalled that Pakistan was the first country to pass a resolution in support of Iran. He reaffirmed that Pakistan stands for peace and regional stability. He also emphasized the need for continued dialogue to tackle shared challenges. Moreover, he assured Iran of Pakistan’s full support in future efforts toward unity in the Muslim world.
The meeting was also attended by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, senior officials, and ambassadors from both sides. They discussed ways to boost ties and protect mutual interests. The leaders agreed that close cooperation is the best way to face foreign threats and build trust between nations.
Earlier, Naqvi joined a trilateral meeting with interior ministers from Iran and Iraq. They agreed to create a joint group for managing pilgrim travel. Naqvi announced that starting January 1, 2026, Pakistani pilgrims to Iraq must travel through officially registered groups. This step aims to improve safety and ensure better travel planning for religious visitors.
