Humaira Asghar’s father has denied reports claiming he refused to take custody of his daughter’s body. He stated that no family member refused to collect the actress’s remains.
Humaira’s body was found on July 8 in a rented flat in Karachi’s DHA area. Police said the body was around 10 months old based on the post-mortem report. Earlier, Sindh police claimed Humaira’s father cut ties with her two years ago and refused to receive her body.
However, on July 10, Humaira’s brother Naveed Asghar arrived in Karachi and on July 11, she was buried in their ancestral home in Lahore. After the burial, Humaira’s father Asghar Ali told the media that rumors about refusal were false.
He explained that after finding the body, standard procedures follow: inspection, medical and post-mortem reports, and only then the body is handed to the heirs. He said it was impossible to receive the body before these steps.
When asked about his last contact with Humaira, he admitted it was nine months ago. He also mentioned he uses a simple phone and did not have much information about her; his son knew more details. Regarding the investigation into Humaira’s death, he said, “What God wills will happen.”
Humaira’s nephew added that another death had occurred in their family before the body was found, and everyone was at the village when they heard the news. He insisted that media reports spreading rumors were baseless.
