Indian air force jaguar fighter jet crashes in Rajasthan, pilot killed

Published on: July 9, 2025 3:24 PM

An Indian Air Force (IAF) Jaguar fighter jet crashed near Bhanoda village in Churu district, Rajasthan, on July 9, 2025. The pilot lost his life in the accident. According to Indian media reports, the jet had taken off from the Suratgarh Airbase before it went down. The region hosts several IAF bases, including Jodhpur and Bikaner.

The Station House Officer of Rajaldesar, Kamlesh, told news agency PTI that the crash occurred at around 1:25 PM. The jet fell in an agricultural field near the village. Initial reports stated that human body parts were found scattered at the crash site, suggesting that the pilot did not survive the impact.

Rescue and investigation teams have reached the location, and a probe is underway. The area has been cordoned off, and officials are gathering more details. The cause of the crash has not yet been officially confirmed.

This is not the first such incident for the IAF this year. In March 2025, a fighter jet crashed in Haryana’s Panchkula during a routine training flight. The pilot managed to safely eject and directed the aircraft away from civilian areas before it went down. That incident was blamed on a system failure, and an inquiry was launched.

In another case in April 2025, a Jaguar fighter jet crashed near Jamnagar, Gujarat, during a night training mission. One pilot, Siddharth Yadav, died while saving his co-pilot. He made sure his fellow pilot ejected in time and guided the aircraft away from populated areas before the crash. His sacrifice was praised by his father, who said he was proud of his son’s bravery despite the heartbreaking loss.
