Popular Pakistani actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday. The 32-year-old artist had been missing from public view for weeks. Her body was recovered from a rented flat in Ittehad Commercial Area, Phase VI, by Gizri police.
The police said they arrived at the apartment around 3:15pm on the orders of a local court to vacate the premises. When no one responded to repeated knocks, officers broke the lock and entered. Inside, they found Ali’s body in a severely decomposed state. The Crime Scene Unit was immediately called to collect forensic evidence from the scene.
DIG South Syed Asad Raza confirmed the body was several days old and noted a strong foul smell in the apartment. He said it appeared that the actor had died about two weeks ago. However, the exact cause of death remains unknown. Her body has been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and further legal procedures.
Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition. She added that further tests would be needed to determine whether the death was natural, accidental, or suspicious. Investigations are underway and statements from neighbors and property managers are being recorded.
Humaira Asghar Ali was known for her roles in local television and fashion projects. She had also appeared in the 2015 Pakistani film Jalaibee and reality show Tamasha Ghar on ARY Digital. Her sudden and mysterious death has shocked the entertainment industry and raised questions about mental health and isolation in showbiz.
