LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has strongly opposed any move by the Pakistani government to recognise Israel or join the Abraham Accords. Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, he warned that such actions would face massive public resistance across the country.
He harshly criticised India, calling it a “terrorist state,” and claimed both India and Israel are working together to suppress Muslims. Rehman also condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks in Palestine and slammed the silence of Arab nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), calling their inaction “criminal negligence.”
The JI chief accused certain ministers of secretly pushing for talks with Israel to appease the United States. He denounced former US President Donald Trump for portraying himself as a peace broker while openly supporting Israel’s aggression. Rehman urged the Pakistani government to clearly state its position on Israel.
Turning to regional affairs, Hafiz Naeem said no progress in relations with India is possible without resolving the Kashmir issue. He criticised any trade negotiations with India, such as importing onions or tomatoes, stating that the only dialogue should focus on Kashmir’s freedom.
He also expressed deep concern over the political and economic situation in Pakistan. Rehman alleged that seat manipulation in Punjab and KP was damaging democracy and that opposition parties were being targeted unfairly, with some electoral symbols removed and leaders jailed without justice.
Concluding his remarks, Hafiz Naeem criticised the judiciary for failing to protect the Constitution and warned state institutions to stop unlawful detentions. He promised that Jamaat-e-Islami would soon rise as a powerful political force, committed to justice, fair governance, and the rights of the people.
