As Iran launched missile attacks on U.S. military bases in Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, and Kuwait late Monday night, U.S. President Donald Trump remained in the White House Situation Room with his national security team. According to the Telegraph, Trump proceeded with his scheduled security meeting at 1 p.m. U.S. time, amid growing regional turmoil.
The White House released a statement confirming that both the President and the Department of Defense were closely monitoring threats and maintaining constant situational awareness. The missile attacks came shortly after Iran vowed retaliation for U.S. airstrikes that destroyed several of its nuclear facilities over the weekend.
On June 13, Israel carried out aggressive airstrikes in Tehran, targeting Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Backed by the United States, Israel also sought assistance to destroy Iran’s crucial Fordow nuclear site.
In response, President Trump authorized a large-scale strike early Sunday, deploying 14 massive 30,000-pound bombs and launching multiple missiles on Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Iran quickly warned of retaliation and began striking U.S. military positions in neighboring Gulf states the following night.
Experts say the situation in the Middle East is now on a dangerous path toward full-scale conflict. With both Iran and the U.S. escalating their military operations, global leaders are urging restraint as fears of a broader war grow by the hour.
