Iran launched several retaliatory missile strikes on southern Israel, hitting a power plant and causing widespread electricity disruptions across multiple cities, according to Al Jazeera and Israeli media reports. Israel Electric Corporation confirmed that a missile landed near strategic infrastructure, leading to power outages in several towns. The attack followed recent Israeli strikes on Iran, escalating tensions between the two countries.
During the attack, sirens blared for nearly 35 minutes, marking the longest time Israelis have spent in shelters since the conflict began. Cities including Nahariya, Gush Herziyahu, Hila, Ma’ayan Baruch, and Ma’alya reported emergency alerts.
Reuters reported that a missile was seen flying over occupied Jerusalem before multiple explosions were heard. Al Jazeera also noted confirmed missile impacts in at least four locations, including Ashdod and southern parts of western Jerusalem.
However, due to strict Israeli military censorship, detailed information about the targeted sites and the extent of damage remains unclear. Sharing such details can lead to imprisonment under Israeli law.
Since June 13, following an Israeli attack on Iran, Tehran has reportedly launched around 450 ballistic missiles at Israel. These strikes have caused heavy damage, especially in central Israel and the strategic city of Haifa. According to Al Jazeera, over the past 10 days, more than 30,000 Israelis have applied for compensation, and many have been forced to seek temporary shelter. Local authorities are spending over $4 million daily to meet urgent needs.
