In a dramatic escalation, the Israeli military claimed it launched a massive overnight airstrike on Tehran, targeting key Iranian military installations and a nuclear research facility. The assault involved more than 60 fighter jets that fired 120 bombs and missiles.
According to Reuters, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the targets included multiple missile manufacturing plants in Tehran, reportedly operated under Iran’s Ministry of Defense. These sites were said to produce essential missile components and raw materials used in engine development.
The strikes also targeted the headquarters of Iran’s SPND nuclear project. Israeli military officials described SPND as a top-secret research hub focused on advanced technology and weapons development, originally established in 2011 by Mohsen Fakhrizadeh — widely believed to be the architect of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Furthermore, the Israeli military claimed it struck another facility that was producing a critical element for Iran’s nuclear weapons development. This site, according to Israel, plays a key role in advancing Iran’s military capabilities.
In addition, Israeli forces reported the destruction of three ballistic missile launchers that were allegedly prepared to attack Israel. The IDF also released drone footage showing the precision strikes on these launch platforms inside Iran.
Israel further claimed to have killed a senior Iranian military commander during the operation. The commander was said to be on-site, actively involved in the missile program. This latest move marks a serious intensification in the ongoing conflict between the two regional rivals.
