Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with its allies in the opposition, is considering bringing no-confidence motions against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
According to sources, PTI’s founding leader was briefed during a meeting with lawyers and his sisters about the opposition’s stance on filing a motion against the Speaker. He was informed of Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s support and the wider opposition alliance’s interest in taking this step.
In response, the PTI founder reportedly instructed party leaders to prepare a plan to move forward with the no-confidence motion against the Speaker. He also authorized the PTI leadership and opposition allies to proceed with the decision as needed.
Party insiders revealed that the PTI founder directed his team to give the current government a tough time both inside and outside Parliament. The aim is to apply pressure and hold the ruling coalition accountable.
However, PTI leader Asad Qaiser clarified that the ongoing Pakistan-India tensions have temporarily paused the move. He said that launching such a motion during regional conflict could appear as if they were playing politics during a time of national crisis. Still, he confirmed that no-confidence motions against both the PM and Speaker remain on the table, and the party will act at the right time.
